R.I.P. Jim Kelly aka The Dragon

My heart is heavy today. I can usually put together the right words for just about any occasion. Today, I am at a loss for words. Jim Kelly aka “The Dragon” the world’s first black martial arts superstar has passed away. He catapulted to fame alongside Bruce Lee in “Enter the Dragon” and was known for his super kicks and slick wordplay. He was our Bruce Lee. He had that certain cool swagger coupled with deadly martial arts skill that kept you coming back for more. For many of us, he was our first  hero. He wasn’t a shuffling sambo or a walking stereotype. He was that guy that ladies wanted to be with and guys wanted to be like. He opened up the door up for many American martial artists to display their skills on-screen. The stars in the heavens just got a little brighter. Rest in Peace my brother.
